Michal Kosciuszko (born April 20th, 1985 in Cracow, Poland) is the first and so far only one Polish driver who won a World Rally Championship stage (JWRC Rally d'Italia Sardegna 2008). He is also two time Polish champion in A6 and F2 class. Since 2007 Michal is representing Poland in World Rally Championship. 2009 season is his second in the Suzuki Sport Europe team, where he drives with Maciej Szczepaniak the Suzuki SWIFT Super 1600.
Michal is a huge motor sports fan since his early ages. He started his career as karting driver at age of 15. From the very beginning he treats his career very ambitious and professionally. As a teenager Michal developed his skills in a professional karting school in Italy. His talent and convenient preparation led him to Polish Karting Championship win in his first season (2001).
He made his debut in Polish Motor Association’s Rally Cup at age of 17. He won two races in this cycle and achieved International rally license. The next step was debut in Polish Rally Championship, where he drove a Opel Corsa Super 1600 in the EFL Corsa Rally team.
In 2005 Suzuki Motor Poland asked Michal to join the team as official driver. He tapped the opportunity and won his first Polish championship in 1600 and F2 class as the youngest driver in history. In the 2006 season he repeated his success and begun also to compete in the Junior World Rally Championship. In the 2007 season Michal focused on his starts in the World Rally Championship. He scored his first stage in Rally Finland, one of world’s most prestigious and demanding rally.
Suzuki offered Michal starts as team driver of Suzuki Sport Europe Team in appreciation of his results in the 2007 season. As early as in first round of JWRC 2008 season he scored the stage of Rally Mexico. His next successes came in very short period of time. Michal Kosciuszko, as first Polish driver ever, won a Junior World Rally championship stage – very difficult Rally d'Italia Sardegna.
Michal and his pilot Maciej Szczepaniak declare that they will fight for champion’s title in 2009.
